In the Catholic Church, even the most cloistered convents are never left entirely to self-rule. Every community of nuns, no matter how devout or secluded, has an external male authority, usually a priest or chaplain, who holds ultimate oversight.
This is not only for theological reasons; it is also historical tradition and practically necessary. Left entirely to themselves, such all female communities have a documented tendency toward factionalism, bitter disputes, and in some cases outright collapse.
The Church learned centuries ago that women require an external, male, stabilising authority to keep order, resolve conflicts, and maintain alignment with the wider ecclesiastical hierarchy. It is a safeguard born from long experience.
Tl,DR: Even nuns will undermine their own order without a man to lead them.
